The Songs Vin Played for 12/03/2000
SCHEDULE OF UPCOMING GUESTS:
As of this writing (12/4), no guests are scheduled for the
final Vin Scelsa's Idiot’s Delight shows of the 20th Century.
There are three essential Commandments:
Respect The Elders.
Embrace The New.
Encourage The Impractical and Improbable,
Without Bias.
— David Fricke
These are the songs I played on
Vin Scelsa's IDIOT'S DELIGHT®
on 102.7 WNEW-FM New York on 12/3/00
PROGRAM NOTE: As of Sunday, November 12, Vin Scelsa’s Idiot’s
Delight is now heard on Sunday nights from 10 PM to 2 AM only;
the 8 to10 PM hours have been cut because the station has sold the time
to an outside producer of Game Show Radio. The night of November
12 was the first time the show didn’t start at 8 PM on a Sunday night
in New York City in 11 years!

Glen and Tony stopped by for their almost traditional pre-“Glen Burtnik’s Xmas Xtravaganza” visit. This yearly holiday event is taking place once again at The Bottom Line in NYC – 2 nights! – 4 shows! – Friday and Saturday, December 8 and 9. Attendees are asked to bring toys, clothing, canned goods, etc., which Glen and his family distribute to various women’s and children’s shelters in NY and NJ.
It was late in the show – 1 AM – so we all just hung loose – me , Tony, Glen, and Kara (Producer Manning) – all old friends. We told some stories, reminisced a bit ... and every once in a while I got the guys to play something.
These are the last scheduled guests for the show this year. I will probably be doing the rest of the shows in December without guests. If that’s the case, then having Merrie & Pete and Glen & Tony as the last Idiot’s Delight live performers of the 20th Century seems very appropriate.
Tonight's show made me quite happy to have had such a long and significant career on commercial radio in New York; to have touched ... and been touched ... by so many wonderful people for more than 30 years ....

NOTE: I'm not able to write the extensive notes
I used to. Instead I've put web links to certain artist sites.
There is finally an Idiot's Delight t-shirt!
I designed it myself. It's simple, low key and to the point. It's short-sleeved, in heather gray, with very dark blue (almost black) lettering. The "3 essential commandments" are on the front and the show name is on the back, all quite unobtrusive, with no corporate or commercial logos anywhere. The shirt is only available through World Hunger Year (it was a Hungerthon '99 premium), for a $50 donation to that fine organization. For further information, call WHY at (212) 629-8850 or visit <http://www.hungerthon.org> or <http://www.worldhungeryear.org>.
NEW FEATURE: Check out the Idiot's Delight Audio Archives, where we'll be storing current guest
appearances as well as dipping into the past for guest segments from some of my favorite shows. We’re
limited as to space, so each guest segment will only remain up for a few weeks; and space limitations also mean that the segments are available in mono, not stereo. Please alert your friends in other parts of the world that there's now a way to listen to some portion of Idiot's Delight!!

I now have a new Internet-only free form show! “Vin Scelsa's Live At Lunch”!! http://www.liveatlunch.com is heard live from my home studio Tuesday thru Thursday from noon to 3 PM ET (and repeated immediately from 3 PM to 6 PM ET so that it is on at noon for the West Coast). In addition, each show is archived for several months and is available to listen to on demand.
VIN SCELSA's IDIOT's DELIGHT ® is produced by KARA MANNING.
The engineers for all guest performances are DAVID VANDERHEYDEN
and PAUL ALTEMUS.
Very often they use they employ the services of my most Earnest Personal Assistant , SEAN "Shoe Hand" CLEARY.
Vin can be reached via e-mail at <idvin@tellurian.com>.
Engineer Paul has his own personal web page <http://www.engineerpaul.com>, which also contains "The Songs I Played" every week, as well as some of the digital photos he takes of our guests.
