The Songs Vin Played for 09/22/1996
There are three essential Commandments:
Respect The Elders.
Embrace The New.
Encourage The Impractical and Improbable, Without Bias.

JOE BERLINGER and BRUCE SINOFSKY -- interview with the documentary film makers
of "Paradise Lost" (their new film) and "Brother's Keeper." During the course
of this 2-hour conversation I played:
BOBBY FULLER FOUR I Fought The Law
METALLICA Poor Twisted Me
METALLICA The Call Of Ktulu
The music of Metallica is featured prominently in "Paradise Lost," a film
about three teenage boys who were accused -- and ultimately convicted -- of
the brutal slaying of three 8-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas. One of
the reasons the townspeople were so willing so accept the police accusations
was because these teenagers were the town outcasts, the kids who wore black,
had long hair, and listened to "heavy metal". Metallica allowed Berlinger
and Sinofsky to use their music in the film without charge, because they are
admirers of "Brother's Keeper" and because the film attempts to dispel the
assumption that "heavy metal" is synonymous with "Satanism," "cultism," and
"ritualistic murder." "Paradise Lost" is an extraordinary film that raises
many questions about the nature of justice in media-saturated America. To
